WELCOME TO SoBAC
Southampton Business Against Crime (SoBAC) is a non profit making partnership originally set up in July 2004 by like-minded businesses who wanted a more professional and co-ordinated approach to controlling business crime in Southampton. The membership was at that time around 50 businesses (mainly retail) and is now over 100 strong with a more diverse mix of businesses sharing a common goal.
SoBAC works seamlessly with Hampshire Constabulary, CCTV control rooms, City Patrol officers all working together to ensure our city is a safe place to visit, live shop and enjoy the many attractions Southampton can offer.
Most members enjoy the benefits of direct radio contact with all of the official authorities mentioned above as well as each other. This, combined with data from our secure intranet, allows members to have prior knowledge of the movements and actions of prevalent known offenders as well as transient, opportunistic offenders.
This has reduced the fear of crime for business employees as well as the general public and increased the level of offenders deterred, caught and prosecuted; together we can make the city of Southampton a more pleasant place to invest, work and live. Our main aim is to help businesses reduce crime, fraud, anti-social behaviour and make it difficult for criminals to continue offending.
